17 May 2015

(Burkina – Emine) – Official statement (May 16th, 2015): Burkina Faso government in its role as facilitator in the crisis at the KARMA mine operation, calls on all stakeholders involved in the KARMA mine operation to cultivate a spirit of tolerance and partnership in order to revive the activities at the mine.

Indeed, the mining company has already invested about thirty billion CFA francs (US $ 60M). The government has then decided to allow TRUE GOLD MINING to resume operations after the latter has made strong commitments to promote dialogue and good cohabitation relationship with all project communities.

In order to reassure the population, the Government of BURKINA FASO said that the village of RAMATOULAYE, its mosque and its cemetery considered as sanctuary as a whole is guaranteed by law.

A  Monitoring Committee and Community Liaison (CSL) will be established as a body for permanent, inclusive and representative dialogue aiming at establishing good communication between all parties.

Keeping in mind these achievements and with a desire for social cohesion, dialogue, and the major interest of the nation, the government calls for mutual understanding and invites all stakeholders to have the sense of responsibility in order to enable TRUE GOLD MINING to resume its activities in social stability.

The ambition is to meet a challenge; make mining a lever for local and National development
