
Natougou gold deposit, first pour for 2018
10 April 2017The Natougou Gold Project is located in Burkina Faso, 320km south-east of Ouagadougou the capital city. Within the Diapaga greenstone belt, the deposit is on the Boungou permit belonging to Semafo.
Detained at 90% SEMAFO Boungou S.A and 10% by Burkina State, Natougou is a high-grade sub-horizontal deposit with a strong structural control.
The construction work was launched on 31 March in the presence of the Ministry of Mines, Mr IDANI Oumarou. The operating permit was granted in December 2016 and the first gold pour is expected in 2018.

- Proven and probable reserves of 9.6M tonnes at 4.15 g/t for 1.3M oz of contained gold (December 31, 2016)
- Measured and indicated resources of 2.7M tonnes at 2.46 g/t Au for 0.2 Moz of contained gold (December 31, 2016)
- Inferred resources of 6.3M tonnes at 3.72 g/t Au for 0.75 Moz of contained gold (December 31, 2016)
Discovered in 2011 by an Australian junior company Orbis Gold the deposit was acquired by Semafo Inc. in early 2015 following a hostile takeover bid.
Extension work on the open-pit mine continues in the vicinity of Natougou.
