RONGUEN DEPOSIT Location and Access The Ronguen gold project is located in the Bam Province in the north-central region of Burkina Faso, approximately 100 kilometers north of Ouagadougou the capital city of Burkina Faso and 3 kilometers south of Kongoussi town.                                             Access to the project area is via a paved road that connects Ouagadougou to the town of Kongoussi. Gravel roads provide access to most parts of the two permits. Travel time from Ouagadougou to the project area is approximately 1.5 hours. History -         The initial work was conducted by the BRGM from 1961 to 1971, and it focused on small gold occurrences located in the southeast portion . -          Prior to the acquisition by SOMIKA, Ronguen was situated within the Guibaré exploration permit held by the BHP-CEMOB joint venture drilled that four holes in the mid-1990s. -         From July 2006 and prior to 2010 exploration works were conducted by High River Gold with the assistance of Goldrush. After the termination of the strategic alliance in December 2009, Goldrush independently carried out the exploration. -          An initial mineral resource model was prepared by SRK in April 2008 and gives approximately 249,000 ounces of gold in the Inferred category. -         An updated Mineral Resource for Ronguen Project conducted by SRK Consulting Inc. was released in July 2012, with an effective date of May 18, 2012. The resources were estimate at 384000oz gold. -        In June 13th 2014, Nordgold Enters into Agreements to Acquire Ronguen Gold Project from Canada’s Goldrush Resources Ltd. Regional and local Geology The project is located within the central domain of the strongly arcuate Boromo belt. This area is characterized by mafic volcanic rock, minor felsic volcanic rock and extensive sedimentary units characterized by a train of folds and associated trust faults. The Birimian rocks are intruded by large granitic batholiths and small felsic stocks stitching the supracrustal sequences together. The geology of the Ronguen gold deposit area is subdivided into three structural domains: -         The southern domain comprises a sedimentary fold and thrust belt characterized by polyphased deformation. -         It is   juxtaposed to a diorite rock and a thin south dipping sedimentary package along a thrust fault. -         On top of that fault, metasedimentary rocks are folded in a characteristic nappe structure. The above are bounded to the north by a thick high strain zone characterized by brittle-ductile mineralized structures. The boundary is defined by a ductile shear zone with moderate to steep south dip. Rocks in the highly deformed zone comprise a mixture of interbedded graphitic siltstone, argillite and conglomerate cut by diorite intrusions. Deposit Types The deposit is an hydrothermal greenstone belt hosted deposit, typically late orogenic that exhibit a strong relationship with regional arrays of major shear zones. The gold mineralization is typically associated with an organized network of quartz veins containing subordinate amounts of carbonate, sulphides and native gold. Structure is the principal control on the location of the gold mineralization. Mineralization The main gold mineralization was traced in saprolite and bedrock by trenching and drilling over a strike length of 1.7 kilometers and to a depth of approximately 180 meters. It is associated with arrays of quartz-carbonate veins developed within a major south dipping brittle-ductile reverse fault developed in graphitic sedimentary rocks and associated with diorite dikes. The main gold mineralization typically occurs within the most intensely deformed segments of the reverse shear zone, near the contacts with diorite. Two principal vein types are recognized: -         Severely strained quartz-carbonate veins roughly subparallel to the dominant foliation. The veins are typically very strongly deformed, generally thin and are strained, folded, boudinaged and brecciated. -         Shallow, south dipping quartz-carbonate veins at high angle to the dominant foliation. These veins are commonly less severely strained and are likely extensional. They are commonly developed in diorite rock where they form weak stockwork. MINERAL RESOURCES Updated Mineral Resource for Ronguen Gold Project prepared by SRK Consulting (Canada) Inc. was released in July 2012, with an effective date of May 18, 2012 as part of a NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource technical report. The mineral resources are reported at a cut-off grade of 0.4 g/t gold in Saprolite/saprock and 0.7 g/t gold in fresh rock within a conceptual pit shell optimized considering a gold price of US$1,550 per ounce of gold.
