Project Location and Access

The Kiaka Gold Project is located in central-south of Burkina Faso, approximately 120 kilometres southeast of the capital Ouagadougou. The closest town is Gogo, approximately 15 kilometres from the provincial capital of Manga.

The Kiaka exploration permit covers an area of 244km2 and has easy access (2 hours from capital) with 100km of good paved road from Ouagadougou to Manga and 40km of gravel road to the camp.

Project History

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† Randgold undertakes extensive exploration on the permit since 2004. It identified six regional prospects.

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† Randgold previously defined a ‚ÄúGeological Resource‚ÄĚ of 81.58Mt at 1.01g/t for 2.65 Moz (Non NI 43-101 compliant).

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† Volta Resources acquired the Kiaka Project from Randgold in November 2009 and delivered a maiden NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource estimate of the Main Zone of the Kiaka Gold Project dated June 29, 2010.

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† June 29, 2011, the Company announced the completion of an updated NI 43-101 compliant mineral resource estimate for the project.

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† In February 2012, Volta announced the discovery of a new high grade mineralization zone 700m SW of the central zone of the mine (Kiaka South).

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† On March 21, 2012, the Company announced updated resources estimate at Kiaka with 31.37 million tonnes @ 1.13 g/t Au for 5,029,000 ounces Au.

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† A positive Prefeasibility Study was completed and Release on May 3, 2012.

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† September 27, 2012, a maiden NI 43-101 compliant Mineral Resource estimate for the Kiaka South deposit, gives 118,000 ounces (M&I).

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† July 12th, 2013 – Volta Resources announces that it is suspending its current approach to the Feasibility Study at its Kiaka Gold Project. The Company reviews a lower risk development approach with a higher grade of ore processed.

Р       Thursday, November 14, 2013 B2Gold Corp. acquired Volta Resources Inc.

 Project Geology

The Kiaka Gold Project is situated at the intersection of the northeast striking Tenkodogo greenstone belt and the regional gold rich north striking Markoye Fault, in whose proximity some of the larger gold deposits discovered in Burkina Faso are located.

The main rock types found in the mineralized area trending northeast are dominated from west to east, by the following lithologies:

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† intercalated quartz mica garnet schist,

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† quartz feldspar schist,

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† amphibolites,

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† quartz biotite schist and

–¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬†¬† localized graphitic units.

The main NE oriented lithologies are intruded by deformed porphyries and some gabbro bodies in the northern and southern parts of the system. The higher gold grade zones can be broadly correlated with brittle-ductile deformation, a strong secondary structural fabric and a distinct alteration assemblage.

The property hosts several highly prospective targets; the most advanced being the Kiaka Main Zone (KMZ), the Kiaka Hanging wall Zone (KHZ) and the Kiaka South zone.

Kiaka is a broad structurally controlled epithermal gold system. Stereographic plots indicate that the target is associated with tight folds system and shearing. Mineralization zones trend north-south and are associated with networks of quartz or disseminated sulphides.

There are four mineralized zones recognized at Kiaka. From NW to SE, these include KHZ, KIZ, KMZ and KFZ. The KMZ provides the largest target for resource ounces as it attains widths in excess of 200m in places.

Mineralization zones in the mine area trend north-south and are associated with networks of quartz or disseminated sulphides.  Gold mineralization occurs in two zones, including a low grade wide envelope and higher grade main zone within this wide zone. Gold is also found in the hanging wall and foot wall structures.

Gold mineralization at Kiaka is associated with broad alteration system (silica –¬†¬† biotite – chlorite), and pyrrhotite, fine pyrite and arsenopyrite. These sulphides can be disseminated or following the fabrics.¬† Petrographic studies found gold mainly in inclusion in metamorphic minerals (hornblende, biotite, etc).

The high-grade mineralization at the new Kiaka South Area is situated approximately 700m southwest of the Kiaka Central Area. The area gold mineralization occurs from surface and is characterized by high-grade intercepts.

Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves

The Kiaka Gold Project (KMZ_Lenses, KMZ_Halo, Kiaka Central Adjacent Zones, Kiaka South) NI-43-101 compliant reserves are estimated at 34.38 million tonnes @ 1.04 g/t Au for 1,145,969 ounces of gold in the Proven category and 91.70 million tonnes @ 0.93 g/t Au for 2,742,353 ounces of gold in the Probable category. These reserves were estimated by SRK.

The NI-43-101 compliant mineral resources estimated by SRK are presented in the table below.

(source: company web site / press release dated March 21, 2012).
